Blackest Night: The Flash (2010) #3: Owen Mercer asks him for his help to try and find his father, tellig him that if he helps him, he will convince Captain Cold to allow him to join, even with his history of sex offending, which Captain Cold has massive problem with. Sandblast threatens Owen in order that he would forget himself, telling him that 'kinda crap can follow you around...' but Owen just pushes him into a large ditch, where he becomes scared as he hears Captain Boomerang's voice. He jumps from the shadow, tearing out Sandblast's heart and killing him.
